I have a distinct memory of my mom tucking me in when I was (must have been) 11 or 12, and she stood at the door and said “I love you” to my brother and I; and in return I very uncomfortably replied “I uh… I like you too, Mom…” My mom burst out laughing at how uncomfortable I felt. I didn’t get angry or anything, it actually showed me that I was being a bit ridiculous. The other night though, I was tucking in Caleb and the same thing happened, only with me in the place of my mom. It threw me back to that night and made me laugh a bit to see how full circle things had come. That’s parenting, I guess.
