The kids are really big into pretending to be animals at the moment. They have a pretty big repertoire of animals too (probably thanks to Go, Diego, Go). One of their favorites is Penguins. They also love pretending to be animals while doing other tasks. In fact, if you need them to do something all you need to do is ask them to do it as a puppy or a penguin and they are all over it. We play a game we call “ready, set, go” in which we shout “ready, set, go!” and the kids run from one end of the house to the other. Lately they have been doing it as different animals; I’ve had to alter the name of the game to whatever animal they want to be. It usually turns into “Ready, set, PUPPY GO!” and then they crawl across the floor barking like dogs. It’s very cute. The other day they were penguins; and that’s all they wanted to be. They were quite offended when I suggested we play as Jaguars. As we played the game they got distracted from running but still insisted on everything being a penguin version of it’s regular self. I didn’t actually say “Penguin Jesus” during the prayer, but by the time the prayer came, I was so used to prefacing everything with the word “penguin” that it very nearly slipped out…
